  2. 1822-1888 • There were multiple dates for the invention of the first computer. One of the first known inventors was Charles Babbage. From 1822-about 1880 he worked on the first mechanical computer, he never finished do to lack of money. His son Henry continued for him after his death in 1871. He completed a simplified version of the computer in 1888.

  3. In 1936 Konrad Zuse invented the Z1 the first “modern” computer, and the first really functional computer. • In 1943 the Colossus, developed by Tommy Flowers, was demonstrated. The Colossus’ main purpose was to aid the British in decoding German messages. 1936 1943

  4. ENIAC 1943-1946 • The ENIAC computer was invented in 1943 but was not completed until 1946, by J. Presper Eckhert and John Mauchly. The ENIAC was possibly the first digital computer because it was fully functional.

  5. Minicomputer • The Minicomputer was invented in 1965 by Ken Olsen. Its purpose was to give a cost effective to room size mainframe computers.

  6. Mainframe • The Mainframe computer was mainly produced in 1950-1970. most mainframe computers were used by the government for census, and industry consumer statistics.

  7. Microcomputer • The Microcomputer was a smaller computer mainly used as personal computers.

  8. Apple 1 was built in 1976 by Steve Wozniak. It was an addition to the field of personal computers, and was based on the MOStek 6502 chip. • The Lisa had a Motorola 68000 processer. It was the first personal computer to use Graphical User Interface. It was mainly for large businesses. Apple 1 Lisa

  9. The first series of PowerBooks was very successful. They are portable. • The Mac replaced the Powerbook and was released in 1989. It is a portable computer, and has a built in hard drive. Powerbook Mac

  10. IPad • The IPad is a tablet computer that allows you to browse the internet play games and watch movies.
