Leading up to the dropping of the bomb: · Pearl Harbor- December 7th 1941 · Involvement of U.S. in WWII · Japan wouldn’t surrender · Truman thought it was the correct and only choice · American soldiers were weak from 4 years of war · 2 million Japanese soldiers were waiting to fight · Prevention of more deaths of US soldiers

  4. Dropping of the bomb: · August 6th 1945-Hiroshima · August 9th 1945-Nagasaki

  5. The Aftermath: · Hiroshima-80,000 deaths · Nagasaki- 40,000 deaths · Radiation poisoning- 100,000 more deaths · Japan surrendered Aug. 15th · WWII ended
