  1. Columbus Day Remembering the man who changed the world.

  2. Columbus Day Columbus believed that the Earth was round. Other people believed it was flat & you would fall off if you went too far.

  3. Columbus Day He really wanted to see if he was right. So he asked Isabella the Queen of Spain to pay for a trip to find out.

  4. Columbus Day The Queen said ‘Yes’ and so Columbus got ready.

  5. Columbus Day He prepared 3 ships called the Nina, the Pinta & the Santa Maria.

  6. Columbus Day He sailed for many days and nights. The men on the ships thought he was wrong. Finally, one man shouted ‘Land!”

  7. Columbus Day Everybody was excited! They had come to an island. They called the island Hispanola.

  8. Columbus Day The native people on the island came to meet Columbus & his sailors. They were called the Arawak People.

  9. Columbus Day Today the island has 2 countries, Haiti & the Dominican Republic.

  10. Columbus Day Columbus didn’t prove the Earth was round, but he did show that you wouldn’t fall off. not true

  11. Columbus Day Columbus did change the world. He took new foods and plants back to Spain & Europe.

  12. Columbus Day Many other things of value were also brought back to Europe.

  13. Columbus Day Columbus never got rich, but his name is remembered every where in the “New World”

  14. Columbus Day Columbus changed the world because he brought new things to the Europeans & he brought new ideas and things to the New World. Syphilis bacteria

  15. Columbus Day Columbus brought new ideas to the New World people. Christianity & churches.

  16. Columbus Day Columbus also brought horses, gunpowder, guns, metal tools & many diseases.
