  3. Doctrine Matters! • (2 John 1:9-10) • Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; (NKJV)

  4. Doctrine Matters! • If doctrine doesn’t matter?!? • (2 Timothy 4:2) • Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. (NKJV)

  5. Doctrine Matters! • Proper Doctrine = Beneficial • (1 Timothy 4:6) • If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. (NKJV)

  6. Doctrine Matters! • Proper Doctrine = Beneficial • (1 Timothy 4:16) • Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. (NKJV)

  7. Doctrine Matters! • (2 Timothy 2:15) • Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (KJV)

  8. Our doctrine MUST be God’s doctrine. • (Ephesians 4:14) • that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, (NKJV)

  9. Our doctrine MUST be God’s doctrine. • (1 Timothy 1:3) • As I urged you when I went into Macedonia--remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, (NKJV)

  10. Our doctrine MUST be God’s doctrine. • (1 Peter 4:11) • If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (NKJV)

If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Our doctrine MUST NOT change. • Changes for Political (Not Scriptural) Reasons: • “Leaders of the Anglican Communion have been pushing Episcopalians to roll back their support for gays and lesbians since 2003, when the U.S. denomination consecrated the first openly gay bishop, V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire.”– Associated Press

Our doctrine MUST NOT change. • (2 Timothy 4:3-4) • For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (NKJV)

  15. Our doctrine MUST NOT change. • Why? It is NOT OURS TO CHANGE! • (John 7:16) • Jesus answered them and said, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. (NKJV)

Our doctrine MUST NOT change. • (Titus 2:7-8) • in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you. (NKJV)

  19. If we change our doctrine… • (1 John 2:4-6) • He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. (NKJV)

Do Not Be Ashamed of Bible Doctrine! • (2 Timothy 4:1-4) • I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word!   21. Do Not Be Ashamed of Bible Doctrine! • (Ephesians 4:15) • but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- (NKJV)

Do Not Be Ashamed of Bible Doctrine! • People who care about souls speak the truth others! – Paul: • (Acts 17:2) Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, • (Acts 19:8) And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.
