  23. Work Opportunities Four kinds of Work Permits As a Student 1. On-Campus • It is possible for International students to work on-campus without a work permit. - be in full-time studies - have a valid study permit - have a SIN (Social Insurance Number) card

Off-Campus • Some students may be eligible to work off-campus while they complete their studies. • To work off-campus, students must apply for a work permit. • Students should not begin working until they have received their permit.

Off-Campus Students must: - hold a valid study permit - be registered in full-time studies - have been a full-time student for at least six of the 12 months preceding the date of the work permit application - hold a GPA of 2.5 or higher - have a SIN card

Graduate Work Permit • Graduates of Algonquin programs are eligible to work in Canada for a period of up to 3 years after graduation. • Students in programs of 1 year or lessare only eligible for a work permit of 1 year. • Students in programs 2 or more yearsare eligible for a permit of up to 3 years.

Graduate Work Permit Students must: • have completed the program of study and received notification. • apply for the work permit within 90 days of receiving written confirmation (for example, a transcript or an official letter) of graduation. • have a job offer from an employer for a job that is related to field of studies. • have a valid study permit.
