CANADA. Canada is the 2 nd biggest country in the world It has 10 provinces and 3 territories The capital city is Ottawa We have 2 official languages: English and French. We have a prime minister named Stephen Harper He lives in Ottawa and works in the Parliament Buildings.

  5. Animals • Many different animals live in Canada. Where I live you can see these animals all the time: Beavers Canada geese Coyotes

  6. You can also see... Deer Moose Raccoons ....and skunks!!! Gross.

  7. Where do polar bears live? Polar bears Polar bears live in the Arctic region They need cold temperatures, ice, and snow to live They mostly eat seals Polar bears are in danger of dying because the ice is melting. We must always take care of the environment to help stop this from happening.

  8. In the north of Canada, people use huskies as a means of transport. The Inuit people choose 8 to 12 dogs to form a dogsled team and use them to travel from place to place

  9. The Ogopogo • The Ogopogo is a famous sea monster that lives in Okanagan Lake in British Columbia • Many people have said they have seen the monster but no one has taken a good picture of him... Do you think he’s real?

  10. Weather • Canada has VERY cold winters! There’s always lots of snow. The temperature is usually -20°C but sometimes reaches -60°C. Brrrrr.

  11. ...sometimes there is TOO MUCH snow! In 2004, the province of Newfoundland got this much snow in February!

  12. Summer • Canada also has very warm summers. In July and August, many people travel ‘up north’ to their cottages to relax and go swimming

  13. Sports • The most popular sport in Canada is ice hockey. In 2010 Canada won the gold medal in ice hockey in the Winter Olympics when Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal. Canada went crazy.

  14. Canadians also love basketball. Basketball was invented by a Canadian named James Naismith. Jose Calderon, who is from Spain, plays for the Toronto Raptors. • We also love baseball too! Lots of kids play baseball (and soccer!) in the summer.

  15. Food • The most popular kind of food in Canada is called poutine I think it’s DISGUSTING

  17. Native Americans Native Americans were the first people to live in Canada There are many different groups of Native Americans that believe in different things. Each group is called a ‘tribe’ Today, Native Americans live like the rest of Canadians but still practice their own traditions. One example is the pow wow:

  18. In the past, some Native Americans lived in houses called tipis, made from sticks and the skin of an animal. In the Arctic, some Native Americans lived in igloos, made from snow and ice.
