  3. Student Cohort • After Studying the Australian Curriculum we decided to direct our Wiki towards Year 3 students learning Life in Science. • http://det.wa.edu.au/curriculumsupport/k10syllabus/detcms/navigation/science/?page=2&tab=Main#toc2 • We decided to use Butterflies as an example of the life cycle process as suggested by the Curriculum.

  4. Assignment 3a – Teacher Group Project • Assignment 3a required us to present our work in the form of a Wiki. • We named our Wiki according to the student Learning task we selected – The Butterfly Life Cycle

  5. Navigating the Wiki • We decided that the best way to navigate between pages on our Wiki would be to have a menu bar at the top of each page. • This was very effective and helpful not only for us while creating the Wiki but also for users of the resource.

  6. Resources for Teachers • According to the Unit Guide we found appropriate resources in each of the following areas: • Interactive Whiteboard tools from The Learning Federation • Useful and informative Websites • Movies from both YouTube and TeacherTube • Useful Documents • Social Networking site Diigo

  7. Authentic Task for Students • The Authentic Task involves students using a camera to take photos in the classroom of different stages of butterfly life and using Photo Story to display their findings. • We have included a 'how to' for students to use the Photo Story as well as documents for students to complete during the butterfly cycle using printed photos and drawings.

  8. Chrysalis Kit • Chrysalis Kits are available from Bugshop.com

  9. Using Photo Story

  10. Story Book Document • Sarah Created a story book document where students can glue a copy of the photo and draw what they see.

  11. Conclusion Technology plays a key role in today’s modern society has become extremely vital and essential for individuals in the classroom. Created a wiki for teachers technology resources that can be shared and utilized between students and teachers are well suggested and useful in the classroom. Blackboard and chalk are now outdated and obsolete and can essentially exist in a museum. In most classrooms today, the results of using technology have greater influence on enhancing students’ learning.
