The Balancing Act By Queeny
The Aim The aim is to make the can stand on the rim by itself.
Materials • 100ml of water • 2 soft drink cans • A secret friend
Method • Pour your 100ml of water into one of the soft drink cans • Then get your secret friend • Let them try and balance the can that does not have water in it on the rim • Now you try but with the can that has water in it • Watch it balance and it will not fall over
Result I saw that the can did not fall over and as long as I waited it will still balance unlike the other can.
Conclusion It kept on balancing because the centre of gravity moved from the middle onto a tilt. So it is directly above the point it has been balanced on.
Challenge I tried a lot of items for instance a pen, tooth picks, glasses, stamps and cups, but it did not work.
