  3. Air preheater is an important boiler auxiliary, the placeholder in the first line of the combustion air for rapid and efficient combustion in the furnace. • The air heater recovers heat from the outgoing flue gas of a boiler and transmits them to the combustion air

  4. Advantages of using air heaters • The recovery of waste heat from the flue gas and the heating of the boiler air in an air heater offers the following advantages. • a) the boiler efficiency is increased. • b) more stable combustion in the furnace. • c) the combustion is reinforced using hot air. • d) lower coal grades can be burned efficiently with hot air. • e) the use of hot air improves the heat transfer rate and thus less heat transfer area required. • f) the combustion is complete with negligible amount of carbon in ash. • g) Faster load fluctuations are possible. • h) the coal can be effectively dried for easy pulverization and combustion.

  5. There are two main types of air heaters are in use: the static recuperative type and the rotary regenerative type. • http://www.maniks.com/manufacturer/air-preheater/

  6. In the recuperative type, the flue gas on one side of the surface and the air on the other side is usually transferred to the air by the heat transfer surface in the Form of tubes/ plates. • In the regenerative type, the gas flows through a tightly packed matrix or a heat transfer element, which releases heat to the air heater elements and thus increases the temperature of the matrix. Air will then pas through and win the heat. Either The matrix or the hoaxes can be rotated to achieve this heat transfer as a continuous process.

  7. Recuperative Type Air Heater  • Pipe air heaters and plate heaters belong to this category. The plate heaters are usually not used in the greater room boilers. • PLATE TIM AIR HEATER • These consist of parallel plates, which alternately provide gas air. The narrow passes between plates make the cleaning tedious, and the exchange of plates is a big task. As such, this type of air heater is not much use in utilities.

  8. ADVANTAGS OF THE RECUPERATIVE AIR HEATER • The main advantage is that this type of air heater has no moving parts. Thus, the maintenance involved less and so no additional power consumption. • Also, there is no possibility of fly ash transmitted through the heated air in these air heaters.

  9. DISADVANTAGES OF THE RECUPERATIVE AIR HEATER • since the heat transfer areas consist of tubes or plates, the air heater occupies more area. It's also about more material costs. • each puncture in pipes leads to an outlet of air into flue gas flow, thereby increasing the load on the fans. • deposits on the pipe surface reduce heat transfer. • flue gas pressure drop over the air heater is high. • the cross-flow heat transfer in duct air heating is less efficient. • is Strongly affected by cold-end corrosion. • the exchange of punctured tubes is a major task, which requires more downtime at the boiler.

  10. Regenerative Air-Heater • In this category, there are two types of air heaters. One of the Ljungstrom-type rotary heater matrix and the other Davidson-type with stationary heating elements. The Ljungstrorm-air heaters are mainly used in Indian power • Visit us: • http://www.maniks.com/
