The Importance of Personal Work • Mark 16:15-16 …“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. • Souls are on the line, ours and theirs – Ezekiel 3:16-21 • Not limited to preachers or elders – James 4:17

  3. We can sometimes get discouraged. • Seems we have very little success. • “What’s the use? Nobody wants to hear the Bible anymore.” • We can get to feeling like Baruch. Jeremiah 45 • “I’ll just fulfill my personal work obligation by setting an example.” • Luke 19:10, Romans 1:16

  4. Some failure is to be expected. • “When digging for diamonds you have to go through a lot of dirt.” • Matthew 7:13-14 • At best, only 25% of the soil is good. • Matthew 13:3-8, 18-23 • Not even Jesus had a 100% success rate. • Mark 10:22

  5. Failure won’t condemn us. Quitting will. • Hebrews 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, • Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. • Matthew 10:22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. • Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

  6. Men are made to seek God. • Ecclesiastes 3:11a He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts,… cf. Ecclesiastes 1:9 • Acts 17:26-27 • People are looking for a better way of life. Jesus offers that. • John 10:7-10, Matthew 11:28-30

  7. We have God on our side. • Hebrews 13:6, Matthew 10:28 • Romans 8:31-39 • We have God’s word. • Isaiah 55:10-11 • Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 3:5-7, Romans 1:16 • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:17

  8. The successes will make us forget the failures. • Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? • Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” • Cf. 1 Thessalonians 2:20, 3 John 4 • Matthew 25:21, 31-34, 46

  9. Obey the gospel today! • Believe – John 3:16 • Repent – 2 Peter 3:9 • Confess – Romans 10:10 • Be Baptized – 1 Peter 3:21 • Be Faithful – Luke 9:62
