  1. Monday, April 26th • Bellwork: Journals • The Giver and Gathering Blue • Group 1: Finish reading The Giver and discuss • Group 2: Ch. 17-19 (pp. 155-181); if you’re not caught up, take home and read tonight, because you should be prepared to finish tomorrow • Group 1: Narrative Writing, “Chapter 24” • Headphones okay as long as you are working quietly at your own desk and are not sharing with neighbors. Homework: Work on narrative writing/Study for test Wednesday (study guide discussion tomorrow)

  2. Bellwork • Journals—Get your journal and check to make sure you have all 5 journal entries (3/30, 4/2, 4/7, 4/13, & 4/20). If not, go to my homepage calendar and do any missing journals. When finished, fold over the page of the ONE you want me to grade and turn in by stacking on the grey table.

  3. Chapter 24 • The ending of The Giver has been debated since it was first published. Where did Jonas go? What happened to Gabe? Did Jonas die? Was it a hallucination? Did he find love? • For this writing assignment, you will answer these questions by writing Chapter 24 of The Giver. The book can end however you would like as long as you believe it’s possible. • Requirements: • 4 points - 2 or 3 typed pages, double-spaced • 3 points - Times New Roman, 12 point font • 3 points - Titled “Chapter 24” • 10 points - Same verb tense as the novel (past) • 10 points - Dialogue and correct dialogue punctuation • 10 points - Creativity/Style • 10 points – Mechanics • Total Points Possible: 50 points

Grades this week... • 5 Journals—25 points • The Giver Packet—pages 6-17 (classwork activities)—100 points • The Giver Packet—pages 18-27 (chapter questions)—50 points • The Giver test will be Wednesday—100 points • The Giver “Chapter 24” (narrative writing) will be assigned Monday, with work time Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and will be due Thursday.—50 points OR • Gathering Blue Chapter Questions—50 points
