  6. Itype Cleanup • Do not use Itypes not profiled for your library. • Contact help@suffolknet.org if you are using Itypes for items that do not match the description.

What Recoding Has Accomplished • Coding errors cleaned up • Loan Rule and Loan Rule Determiner Table updates and corrections • Expansion of ICode1 Use for Statistics • Call Number Index Improvements • Separation of Location from Loan Rule Determination • Elimination of Location Codes • Clarification and Unification of Itypes throughout the system • LI LINK will soon be reconfigured to apply loan eligibility more reliably • Material Limits Standardization

  9. The PALS Directors have voted to accept a proposal to use a more standardized set of Loan Rules system wide. This will mean a major overhaul of circulation policies county wide. Libraries will choose from among a number of circulation options for each collection. Each library will be guided through the process and updated individually. Transition is expected to take several months and will be organized by zones. Loan Rule Standardization

Editing a Record with another Library Attached • If another library has attached to a Bib record, it is assumed that they have picked the correct Bib for their item. • Edits to this Bib should enhance the record, only. Do not change elements describing the item. • When in doubt, copy the record and make edits to the copy to fit the description of your item.
