  1. College Application Essay Some possibilities…

  2. WKU (250-500 words) • Michael Jordan, one of the most successful and famous athletes in the United States, was cut from his high school basketball team before creating a name for himself as the “greatest basketball player of all time,” according to the National Basketball Association. What would you do if you weren’t afraid of failure? • In his 2005 commencement address to Stanford University graduates, Steve Jobs discussed the “Whole Earth Catalog,” a publication that was popular during his youth. He compared it to “Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along.” When describing the Catalog’s final issue, he recalled their farewell message from the back cover: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish… I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” How does this resonate with you?

  3. UK (250-650 words) • Describe a challenge or obstacle you have overcome in your life.

  4. The Common App (650 word limit) • Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. • Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn? • Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you? • Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again? • Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. • Help! • http://in.princetonreview.com/in/2013/07/dissecting-the-new-common-app-essay-prompts.html
