  2. YOUNG WOMENS SHELTERS • First young women's shelter, Stockholm, 1996 • A place created by young women for young women • Cooperation with womens shelters or separate organisations • About 60 young womens shelters in Sweden • Members of Roks or SKR (38 in Roks)

  3. YOUNG WOMENS SHELTERS • Support for young women who have been victims of violence • Empowerment • Preventive work against violence and oppression of young women • Preventive work in schools • Young-womens-groups

  4. GOALS • Listen • Allow her to tell her story without being questioned or judged • Help her understand feelings of guilt and shame • Help her see and take advantage of her rights • Help her see how she can improve her situation • Question the norms that limit her life

Roks youth women's shelters IN NUMBERS • Full-time employes - 6 (0,4 per organisation) • Part-time employes - 11 (0,7 per organisation) • Active members - 299 (14,3 per organisation) • Girls in contact - 4 045 (270 per organisation) • Reasons for contacting the shelter • Violence - 1 148 (76,5 per organisation) • Mental ill-health - 1 992 (142,3 per organisation) • Sexuality - 666 (47,6 per organisation) • Other - 1860 (124 per organisation)

GOALS FOR TJEJJOUREN.SE • To empower young women • To make young womens shelters visable and to work together nationally with a united voice • A meetingpoint where young people already spend alot of time • Enabeling contact from girls all over the country • Allow young women to be seen and heard

  7. TJEJGUIDEN – GIRLSGUIDEYoung womens informationbank • Informationbank with around 100 texts about: • Violence and sexual violence • Self-destruktivness/anorexia • Anxiety • Sex • Love • The woman's body • All the text are written with a young womans perspective

  8. TJEJJOUREN.SE IN NUMBERS • Between 400 and 1200 unique visitors a day • Between 10 and 20 questions a day • 180 000 unique visitors the first year • 60 young womens shelters who chat and answers • e-mails everyday
