  4. Information from book • To be considered allotropes, the forms of the element must be in the same state-either solid of liquid, or gas.

  5. Diamond • Diamond- one of the best known allotropes of carbon. • Hardness and high dispersion of light make it useful for industrial applications and jewelry.

  6. Graphite • Another one of the most known allotropes of carbon. • Electrical conductor • Can be used as the material in the electrodes of an electrical arc lamp.

  7. Examples • Composed of soft rock, black solid, is the carbon allotrope. • Carbon in the form of a diamond. Its melting point is among the highest of any element. • One of many recently identified allotropes of carbon, a group of ball-like and even tube like structures known as fullerenes.

  8. Uses of Allotropes • Used for rocket fuels. • We use the diamonds in jewelry • Graphite is used in pencil • Fullerenes are used and found in all carbon based substances. • Oxidizer

  9. How do they relate? • Shows the arrangements of atoms and density of materials. • Carbon has a lot to do with it which we have studied a lot individually and also it is in the periodic table which. • We have been learning about atoms and all of its components and the arrangement of them.
