  2. Expectations? Willingness to learn Positive Attitude

  3. Unit 1: • The British Empire: Good or Bad? This unit addresses the themes of power and conflict. Pupils will learn about how Britain came to rule such a vast empire. They will then look at the factors that led to the decline of the Empire. They will come to conclusions about whether the Empire was positive or negative overall. They will justify their conclusions using evidence. Sources Attitudes Empire Evidence

  4. ‘Lions led by donkeys?’ • Unit 2: The Great War, 1914 – 1918 • Pupils will gain knowledge and understanding about the causes of the War • This unit will focus on the use of new technologies on the Western Front and their impact on the conduct of war. Tanks Gas Propaganda

  5. Unit 3: The Treaty of Versailles . This looks at the effectiveness of the Treaty in ensuring a lasting peace in Europe. This will develop pupils understanding of complex issues through participating in a decision making exercise. Investigate Theories Judgements Conclusions

  6. ADDITIONALLY: • Pupils will also study a number of short topics designed to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Units. For example the pupils will learn about ideologies to help them understand how countries are governed. • They will learn about the Industrial Revolution to understand the technological revolution that helped Britain to become a world power.

  7. Assessment Pupil will have some key tasks to complete and these will be assessed in line with BGE guidelines. There will be a variety of Assessment methods such as: Report writing Research based assessment Talks Group tasks Posters PowerPoints Quizzes End of unit assessments

  8. Homework On occasion you will be asked to complete homework tasks. You will be given plenty of notice for this Notices will also appear on Google Classroom.

  9. Progression? Progression to S3 World of Work/Career possibilities: Archaeology, Teaching, Law, Social Work, Civil Service, Politics, Journalism
