  2. Why is it dangerous to text while driving? • In 2009, 5,474 people were killed in U.S. roadways and an estimated additional 448,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes that were reported to have involved distracted driving. • When you focus on screen, the average is 5 seconds, within those 5 seconds traveling at 55mph, that’s enough time to cover a football field. • 16% of all drivers younger than 20 that have been in a car accident have been reported distracted by a cell phone.

  3. Statistics to dangers of texting while driving • 60% of drivers use cell phones while driving. • You are 23 times more likely to get into a car accident while texting rather than not texting • 67% of teen admitted to text while driving at high speeds • 37% of teens admitted to having been extremely distracted by texting • 10% of all teens admit MORE than 100 messages a DAY! • Using a cell phone while driving delays a driver reactions as much as being intoxicated • In 2011 3,331 peoples were killed in crashes involving a distracted driver, compared to 3,267 in 2010.

  4. Solution to texting while driving • What you can do to solve these problems is by using hand-free access.(Bluetooth headset, Google Now, Siri) • Which is being able to text, call, and email with just the command of your voice. • 1 other solution would be an app for your phone that is a text blocker. • But the easiest and cheapest way to this solution is to simply not use your phone while driving.

  5. Plan of action • For now on, every teen from 16-19 in United States has to sign an agreement contract before getting their license agreeing that they shall now text or call while driving. If so caught doing this, they shall get a fine of minimum of $200,000 plus their license suspended for 1 year.
