  2. Quiz Review • The bones of the skeleton are alive. • The innermost part of the bone is bone marrow. • Spongy bone is hard with tiny holes in it. • Periosteum is thin but very strong. • Cartilage is strong material that holds 2 bones together and allows them to glide over one another.

Review Continued • There are 26 bones in the spine called vertebrate. • There are 206 bones in adult bodies. • Ribs protect our heart, lungs and liver. • Things you can do to take care of your bones: • Wear a helmet • Wear wrist supports and elbow and knee pads • Wear all of the correct equipment for sports like soccer, football, lacrosse, etc. • Don’t play on trampoines • Eat food with calcium • Be active everyday

  4. More Review Points • A joint is where two bones meet. • Tendons help skeletal muscles hold onto the bone. • Two types of moving joints: • Hinge • Ball and socket • Three types of muscle • Smooth • Cardiac • Skeletal • Cartilage helps cushion and protect the bones where they meet.
