  2. ABSTRACT This project consists of 9 integrated activities intended for celebration of the Earth Day. Preparation of postcards Making of nesting-boxes Making a symbolic model of a “water drop” Designing a model of the Earth

  3. Decoration of the school’s interior • Performing a play • Creating a collage that demonstrates the damage caused to the Earth by people • Decorations of the school’s windows on the theme of springtime • Decorating a “tree” with “blossoms” containing the written down phrases. ACTIVITY FORM

  4. Preparationofpostcardsand a presentationfortheEarthDaybyapplying ICT Aim: to apply modern information communication technologies (ICT) for designing activities for the Earth Day.

  5. TASKS: • To draw a postcard on the subject of environmental protection by using the Microsoft "Paint"program. • To find information on the internet and prepare a presentation on the subject of environmental protection using the Microsoft PowerPoint program • To present the completed works to the other participants of the project.

  6. conversation and rhetoric skills, independence, creativity and teamwork, familiarity with research on the Internet, presentation skills using a computer. THOUGHT SKILLS Expected result: Pupils will draw postcards using the “Paint” program and prepare a presentation on the subject of environmental protection by using the program PowerPoint.

  7. Makingofnesting-boxes Aim: to build 6 nesting-boxes for starlings using parts of wood.

  8. TASKS: • To analyze and discuss the given instructions of a nesting-box. • To cut the different components of the nesting-boxes out of the given wood. • To drill the required holes, to match and to join the different parts together. • To present the completed works to other participants of the project by using a computer as presentation support media.

  9. MAKING THE MODEL “WATER DROP” Aim: to make a symbolic model “water drop” out by recycling old materials.

  10. Tasks: • To depict the water cycle including the occurrence and movement of underground water. • To depict the waterway from the source to the user. • To prepare a presentation about the importance of water to humanity, flora and fauna. Expected result: A properly prepared model will participate in the competition “Symbol of a water drop” organized by the Lithuanian Public Health Centre.

  11. WORLD EARTH DAY Aim: to design a model of the Earth Globus

  12. To depict the form of the Earth. To depict the continents and oceans. To prepare a presentation. Expected result: the model of the Earth will be used in thegeography lessons in the future Tasks:

  13. DECORATION OF THE SCHOOL’S INTERIOR FOR THE EARTH DAY Aim: to decorate the school areas together with pupils who participate in the various project activities intended for the Earth day.

  14. Tasks: • To choose an appropriate area at the school (1st floor of the school) to decorate the walls. • To use appropriate paint and other handicraft methods for the decoration. • To decide on objects to draw which correspond to the choosen theme “Meadow” and include them in the wall decoration. • To hand draw and paint different elements found in a meadow. Expected result: pupils will paint the designated areas with the aqueous paint and will learn about the benefits and the beauty of wildlife.

  15. A PLAY FOR THE EARTH DAY Aim: to perform a play within the project activities intended for the Earth day.

  16. Tasks: • To provide information on the different resources of the Earth • To prepare and rehearse a play called “Fire’s Court” • To perform the play to the school community Expected result: pupils will perform the school play “Fire’sCourt” to the school community

  17. WORLD EARTH DAY Aim: to create a collage that demonstrates the damage caused to the Earth by people

  18. Tasks: • To depict nature. • To evaluate the influence of people on nature. • To prepare a presentation. Expected result: pupils will present the completed work to other participants of the project.

  19. DECORATION OF THE SCHOOL’S WINDOWS ON THE THEME OF SPRINGTIME FOR THE EARTH DAY Aim: to decorate the school windows according to the theme of springtime

  20. TASKS: To teach pupils to decorate their households with their works, to educate them to take care of the home culture. To educate the pupils on habits and organization of work: to keep tools, materials and measures orderly: to carry out work operations in a pre-planed and exact manner, to complete a started work. To take into account hygienic, health and work safety rules.

  21. Pupils are introduced to the aims and tasks,they plan their work after they get their instructions. Pupils organize and divide their work. They evaluate their work and point out that window decorations are a good possibility to change the look and feeling of a room in positive way. Expected result: pupils will decorate the school’s windows on a springtime theme.

  22. TO CELEBRATE THE EARTH DAY Aim: to find nice phrases and sentences from the books about the Earth for its celebration day.

  23. Tasks: • To find nice words and phrases which describe nature and the Earth in the personal view of a pupil. • To decorate a “tree” with “blossoms” containing the written down phrases • To present the completed works.  Expected result: we will get acquainted with the diversity on Earth and the beauty of nature by using the positive power of words and will hopefully seek to preserve their treasures
