Formation of the Design School • Merger of 3 academic and research departments into one School. • The challenge • IT Manager Role: • 1) Review existing IT provisions across 3 departments • 2) Centralised IT provision and service for the School. • 3) Line manager for one IT technician • 4) IT strategy plan for future IT provision.

Outlook Calendar Sharing • Staff concerns • Privacy • Confidentiality • Selling the advantages to dairy sharing • Setting up group meetings • Research students having the ability to check tutors availability • Promotes staff collaboration. • System is only effective if everyone agreed to share their calendar.

Centralised Printing • Replace traditional office based printers for MFD printers. • Objections from staff who did not want to lose their personal office printers • People don’t like change and adapting to new technology • Directive from University OMB • Selling the advantages to centralised printing • “Follow me” printing service • Security of confidential document. • Scan to email • Financial accountability • Reduce cost of maintaining individual printers.
