  2. El Pretérito (1 of 6) • So far, we have learned PRESENT tenses of verbs. They have the regular endings of: • “o, as, a, amos, áis, an;” • “o, es, e, emos, éis, en;” and • “o, es, e, imos, ís, en.” • Example: yo beso = I kiss, I do kiss, I am kissing

  3. Next, we will learn the PRETÉRITO (past tense) of verbs. This will allow us to discuss : What happened, did happen, or was happening— all in the PAST.

  4. Just like present tense verbs, you need to: 1. take off the “ar, er, or ir.” 2. apply the appropriate endings. El pretérito ENDINGS: AR verbs: -é -amos -aste -asteis -ó -aron ER verbs and IR verbs: -í - imos -iste - isteis -ió -ieron

  9. Pronombres reflexivos • Remember to add a “pronombre reflexivo” if the action is coming back to the do-er. • Also, add a pronoun if the verb is reflexive to begin with. • ME NOS • TE OS • SE SE

  10. Reflexivos will be used with any tense (present, preterite, commands, etc.) • Me maquillé • Temaquillaste • Se maquilló • Nos maquillamos • Os maquillasteis • Se maquillaron
