Suggested Activities: • At this point you could ask students to have a go at writing the final stanza. • Perhaps you could try some peer assessment of the final stanza after agreeing on some success criteria e.g. Does it match the tone/structure? etc. • You could then ask them to give the poem a title before revealing the final stanza.

  8. And then one evening As I sat down to eat my yam A knock on the door froze my hungry hand. The jeep was waiting on my bewildered lawn Waiting, waiting in its usual silence.
