  5. Note how any sound devices help create the feeling or atmosphere of the poem

Some sound devices • Alliteration either consonance or assonance at the start of words only “kick the can” “every elephant” “ • Consonance • Repeating consonant sounds to create a coherent tone to emphasize certain words and feelings • “riddle the middle then play the fiddle” -- b c d f g h j k l m n p q r s t v w x y z • Assonance • Repeating vowel sounds to create a coherent tone to emphasize certain words and feelings • “over the lonely road goes the horse” • aeiouy Rhyme some combination of these three “sat” “fat” “filly” “filmy” “chilling” “killing”
