  2. BABAR Experiment • Operation completed in 2008, with 531 fb-1 data on tape • Y4S data contains 454 million BB events • 405 publications submitted • Analyses continue for a few more years • Harvard joined BABAR in 2000 • Currentandpastmembers Faculty: Masahiro Morii (PI) George Brandenburg➔ ATLAS Postdocs: Stephen Bailey ➔ LPNHE ParisEunil Won ➔ Korea UniversityJinwei Wu➔ Finances Students: Corry LeeKris Chaisanguanthum ➔ UCSF Undergrads: Ben Smith ➔ Harvard (ATLAS), Kevin Chan ➔ BerkeleyKevin Weil ➔ Stanford, Mark Bandstra ➔ Berkeley BABAR

  3. B → ρK* Analysis • B → ρρ is a sensitive probe for the CKM angle α • Uncertainty on α depends on the penguin contribution • Penguin-dominated B0 → ρ0ρ0 is very small • Idea: Use B → ρK* to constrain the penguin in B → ρρ • Linked by SU(3), and the penguin diagram in B → ρK* is CKM-favored • Corry Lee’s Ph.D. analysis • Will measure B0 → ρ+K*−, B0 → ρ0K*0, and B+ → ρ0K*+ • Red modes will likely be the first observations • Publish with B+ → ρ+K*0 analysis by Saclay • Has experience from similar analyses (η(’)K*, η(’)ρ) in BABAR • All data and almost all MC in hand • Lee Ph.D. expected in 2010 BABAR

  4. BABAR Publications by Harvard BABAR
