  10. Goal of Rising CM Conference We understand that soon-to-be graduates, master’s candidates, young practitioners and Construction Manager in Training designees want an edge in career development and a head start in cultivating professional relationships. Construction and Program Management firms and owner organizations need access to the most qualified candidates to fill internship and entry-level positions. The reason for the Raising Construction Manager Conference is to bring these two groups together for one powerful education and recruitment event.

  11. Role of our Chapter As the student chapter at Virginia Tech, we have been following many different practices to bring these groups together for the sake of giving an edge for our student members in career development and help companies to access to the most qualified candidates.

  12. Role of our Chapter One practice that we had been following since formation of our chapter is to arrange a dinner or lunch with the hosting companies representatives when we are invited for a field trip.

  13. Role of our Chapter By this Practice; Students gain valuable one on one socialization time with the construction managers. This opportunity would not be approachable for students by any other means. Companies do not have to go through the contemporary process of selecting eligible candidates from a stack of resumes and asking for an interview. We believe evaluating the candidate in a more relaxed environment would be a better chance for the candidate to show his/her strengths.
