Collaborative Workshop for Iraq's National Development Priorities: UNDAF Design 2009

The Iraq UNDAF Design Workshop held in 2009 aimed to align the Government, UN, and stakeholders in articulating a unified vision for the UN’s role in Iraq’s National Development Plan 2010-14. Participants engaged in priority setting, enhancing knowledge of a rights-based approach, and analyzing national development challenges. By the workshop's conclusion, a work plan (Plan of Engagement) was developed, focusing on results-based management and conflict prevention methodologies to foster effective coordination and sustainable development in Iraq.

  1. Welcome to the Iraq CCA/UNDAF Design Workshop 2009

Iraq UNDAF Design Workshop 2009ObjectivesOverall ObjectiveBy the end of the workshop, the Government, the UN and key stakeholders will have articulated a shared vision for the UN’s specific contribution to Iraq’s national priorities envisaged in the National Development Plan 2010-14, and developed a work plan (Plan of Engagement) for the CCA/UNDAF.

  3. Specific Objectives By the end of the workshop, participants will: • Have internalized a framework for priority setting for the CCA/UNDAF, including initial discussion on the major national development challenges, UN’s comparative advantages and stakeholder analysis. • Have enhanced their understanding and knowledge of the rights-based approach to programming and have initiated the rights-based analysis of major national development challenges in the country.

  4. Specific Objectives (continued) By the end of the workshop, participants will: • Have enhanced their understanding and knowledge of the Results-Based Management • Have enhanced their understanding and knowledge of conflict prevention tools and methodologies • Have developed a work plan (Plan of Engagement) for the development of the CCA/UNDAF, including the identification of thematic areas and the coordination mechanism to enable completion of the CCA.
