  3. What is Eta Sigma Gamma? • National Professional Health Education Honorary • Founded in 1967-Bell State University in Muncie, IN • Over 100 active chapters • Alpha Pi Chapter (est. 1978) • Texas A&M being the largest Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

  4. Why is it called Eta Sigma Gamma? • It stands for Health Science! English letter Greek translation H Eta S Sigma C Gamma Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

  5. Eligibility • Health Science Major • Minimum of 2.75 GPA • Must have completed at least 2 semesters at Texas A&M Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

  6. What we do? • Our mission is promotion of the discipline by elevating the standards, ideals, competence and ethics of professionally prepared men and women in Health Education • We do this through 3 main categories • Teaching • Research • Education Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

  7. What are points? • We use them to calculate experiences that lead our members to carry out ESG’s purpose • Use to set the “minimum standards” for induction/membership and honorary cords • Must have 8 points total • Divided into 3 categories • Teaching • Research • Service *at least 2 pts per category Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

  8. What we have been up to… • Professional Development Information Exchange (PEDI) • About 12 different health professionals • “open house” set up

  11. Expectations • Attendance • Meetings are at 5:30 every other Tuesday • There is only 1 absence allowed per year • Spring banquet • Business casual • Dues $145 • Participate in point opportunities Etasigmagamma.tamu.edu

Grad students • Our chapter is unique in that is one of the few that incorporates grad students • Serve and give guidance to underclassmen • Requirements for membership • Minimum GPA of 3.0 • 8 points throughout the year • at least 4 research • At least 1 service • At least 1 teaching • There are 2 unfilled positions open to Grad Students • 2nd and 3rd vice president! • Come talk to us if you are interested!!
