  1. Sango Elementary Monday, August 22, 2011 Reading Our story this week is “Island of the Blue Dolphins.” The vocabulary words are: lair, ravine, gnawed, sinew, shellfish, kelp, headland. Reading comprehension and vocabulary test will be Friday. A study guide will be sent home every Monday to be completed and returned on Thursday of each week. Math Students will test place value on Tuesday. Students will round and estimate decimals and add and subtract decimals this week. Multiplication facts will be quizzed every Friday. Students must complete 100 facts in 5 minutes. Please continue to help them study their times tables. Thank you. Science Students are studying the process of photosynthesisthis week with several hands on experiments. Test on Friday. Social Studies We will be studying Tennessee geography this week. We will have our map skills test on Tuesday, August 30th. • JUST A REMINDER… • Students will be bringing home today a “Weekly Folder.” Please sign the log verifying you have seen the items sent home, and return with the folder. You may keep the graded papers at home. • Please send in lunch money in a baggie or envelope with your child’s name, teacher name, and lunch number on it. All lunch money is sent to the cafeteria at the beginning of the day. • AR testing has begun. • If your child is going to be dismissed at all during the school day, PLEASE send a note in to the teacher first thing in the morning. • Teachers will begin entering grades into POWER SCHOOL this week. If you have questions about logging in, please stop by the front office. • Grandparents day will be September 2nd. • Book orders are due this Friday the 26th • If your child wears glasses, please help to ensure they bring them to school.
