  13. Election Free Will Calvinist Arminianist

  14. I am myself persuaded that the Calvinist alone is right upon some points, and the Arminian alone is right upon others. There is a great deal of truth in the positive side of both systems, and a great deal of error in the negative side of both systems. Charles Spurgeon, Pastor in London (1834–1892)

  15. If I were asked, "Why is a man damned?" I should answer as an Arminian answers, "He destroys himself." I should not dare to lay man's ruin at the door of divine sovereignty. On the other hand, if I were asked, "Why is a man saved?" I could only give the Calvinistic answer, "He is saved through the sovereign grace of God, and not at all of himself." Charles Spurgeon, Pastor in London (1834–1892)

  16. “When a Calvinist says that all things happen according to the predestination of God, he speaks the truth, and I am willing to be called a Calvinist. When an Arminian says that, when a man sins, the sin is his own, and that, if he continues in sin, and perishes, his eternal damnation will lie entirely at his own door, I believe that he also speaks the truth, though I am not willing to be called an Arminian. Charles Spurgeon, Pastor in London (1834–1892)

  17. The fact is, there is some truth in both these systems of theology. Charles Spurgeon, Pastor in London (1834–1892)

  18. One asked me asked me how I reconciled God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. My answer is simple, I do not need to. They are not at odds. One does not need to reconcile active friends. Charles Spurgeon, Pastor in London (1834–1892)

  19. Biblicist Election Free Will Calvinist Arminianist

  20. The Bible teaches both doctrines, and we should believe both. The truth lies in both extremes, not somewhere between them. William MacDonald (1917 – 2007) – Professor, Writer

  23. Elect according to foreknowledge God knows everything about us and knew it ALL when He chose us • God isn’t disappointed in us • God knows every failure, sin & denial • In light of coming persecution…needed • Persecution, pressure – brings best & worst out of us

  24. Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night

  25. Matthew 26:33 Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”

  26. Matthew 26:34 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

  27. Matthew 26:34-35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And so said all the disciples.

  28. Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

  29. Elect according to foreknowledge God knows everything about us and knew it ALL when He chose us • God isn’t disappointed in us • God knows every failure, sin & denial • In light of coming persecution…needed • Persecution, pressure – brings best & worst out of us

  30. Elect according to foreknowledge God knows everything about us and knew it ALL when He chose us God knows everything that is coming and we will face…and secures us

  31. Romans 8:28-39 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

  32. Romans 8:28-39 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

  33. Romans 8:28-39 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

  34. Romans 8:28-39 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

  35. Romans 8:28-39 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

  36. Romans 8:28-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

  37. Romans 8:28-39 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

  38. Romans 8:28-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  39. Elect according to foreknowledge God knows everything about us and knew it ALL when He chose us God knows everything that is coming and we will face…and secures us

  40. Sovereign Election Predestination Chosen by God

  41. Hebrews 6:18-20 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

  42. Hebrews 6:18-20 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus

  43. Elect According to the foreknowledge of God the Father

  44. Whosoever will, let him enter. Whoever believes, will be saved
