  1. ETERNAL PURPOSE LESSON 12 GLORIFICATION GOD IS GOING TO GLORIFY MAN KIND

  2. Man and his need for GLORIFICATION • The fall of man resulted in humiliation and suffering. All men, through sin, have fallen short of God’s Glory. • Man in his fallen state needs to be lifted up from his degraded position, and the condition of Sin! “THE HOPE OF GLORY”

  3. THE HOPE OF GLORY • COL 1:27 • To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, thehope of glory.

  4. GLORIFICATION • Gods desire is to glorify fallen man, who will share in the “THE GLORY OF CHRIST”. • Rom 8:17-18 • Now if we are children then we are heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the GLORY that will be revealed in us.

  5. CHRIST’S GLORY • JOHN 1:14 • The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen hisglory, the GLORY of the one and only, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.

  6. GOD’S GLORY • JOHN 17: 5 • And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. • GOD WANTS TO SHARE THE VERY GLORY THAT HE HAS WITH US, WE ARE THAT IMPORTANT TO HIM, AND HE LOVES US THAT MUCH.

  7. GLORY THROUGH HUMILITY • Php 2:5-11 • Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-

  8. GLORY THROUGH HUMILITY • Even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the GLORY ofGod the Father.

  9. JESUS SUFFERING GLORIFIED THE FATHER • JOHN 12:27-29 • Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? Father save me from this hour? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father glorify your name! Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him….

  10. JESUS SUFFERING GLORIFIED THE FATHER • 1 Pet 1:10-11 & 21 • Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the GLORIES that would follow. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and GLORIFIED HIM and so your faith and hope are in God.

  11. THE DEATH OF JESUS GLORIFIED GOD AND JESUS • 1 John 13:31 • When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. • Jesus was about to be crucified when he made this statement.

  12. THE DEATH OF JESUS GLORIFIED GOD AND JESUS • John 17:1-2 • “Father, the time has come! Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.

  13. THE DEATH OF JESUS GLORIFIED GOD AND JESUS • John 17:4&5 • I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

  14. THE GLORIFICATION OF CHRIST EXAULTS ALL • Christ shares in the Glory of God, and we are to share in the GLORY of Christ. Therefore we will be sharing in the very GLORY of GOD, and we will be exalted!

  15. WE WILL SAHRE IN GLORY • Col 3: 3&4 • For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God, When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also willappear with him in GLORY. • Paul is addressing these comments to Christians, those who have obeyed the Gospel, they have died, and were buried, and resurrected in baptism.

  16. WE WILL SHARE IN GLORY • Romans 8: 17-19 • Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his GLORY. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the GLORY thatwill be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.

  17. The Christians Glorification is part of Gods eternal Purpose • Rom 8:28-30 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified,he also glorified.

  18. The Christians Glorification is part of Gods eternal Purpose • Rom 9:23-26 • What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom heprepared in advance for glory— even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? As he says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,” and, “It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’ ”

  19. The Christians glorification is part of Gods eternal purpose • 1 Cor 2: 7&8 • No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glorybefore timebegan. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

  20. The Christians salvation in Christ Jesus is with eternal glory • 2 Tim 2:10 • Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is “IN CHRIST JESUS,” witheternal glory.

  21. The Christian’s calling is into God’s own kingdom and Glory • 1 Thess 2:11-13 • For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

  22. The Christian’s calling into God’s own kingdom and Glory • 2 Thess 2: 13-14 • But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that youmight share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ

  23. The Christians salvation in Christ Jesus is with eternal glory • 2 Cor 4: 16-18 • Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, butwhat is unseen is eternal.

  24. The Christians salvation in Christ Jesus is with eternal glory • 1 Pet 5:10 • And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory “IN CHRIST”, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

  25. The Christian’s Glory is with Christ • John 17: 24 • “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”

  26. The Christian’s Glory is with Christ • Phil 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches “IN CHRIST JESUS”.

  27. The Christian’s Glory is with Christ • Col 3:4 • When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

  28. The future Glory shall be revealed • 1 Pet 5:1 • To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings and one who also will share inthe glory to be revealed:

  29. The Christian’s Glorification involves his physical body • Rom 8: 18-23 • consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope

  30. The Christian’s Glorification involves his physical body • Rom 8: 18-23 • that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemptionof our bodies.

  31. The Christian’s Glorification involves his physical body • Phil 3: 20&21 • But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

  32. The Christians JOY is in the earnest expectation of this Glory • Rom 5: 1&2 • Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

  33. The Christian’s JOY is in the earnest expectation of this Glory • Col 1: 26&27 • the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hopeof glory
