ETERNAL LIFE. Eternal Life is having the life of God. It is the absence of spiritual death. A life received and possessed now on earth from God. It is a gift and never earned by good works.

  1. ETERNAL LIFE

  2. Eternal Life is having the life of God. It is the absence of spiritual death. A life received and possessed now on earth from God. It is a gift and never earned by good works. It is the life of Christ. A result of life and fruit from the Spirit of God. A life that is abundant and blessed. It is a life of righteousness, goodness and faithfulness. God’s main agenda for humanity is eternal life. It is Life forever with God.

MEANING OF ETERNAL LIFE Life of God EPH 4:17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, EPH 4:18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 1JN 1:2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us—

Life Eternal now JN 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” JN 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Life Forever MT 25:46 “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” HEB 7:15 And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, HEB 7:16 who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.

  6. NEED OF ETERNAL LIFE Death of Life HEB 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, RO 3:9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; RO 3:10 as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; RO 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  7. Destroyed Life ACT 26:15 “And I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. ACT 26:16 ‘But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; ACT 26:17 rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you, ACT 26:18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’

RECEIVING ETERNAL LIFE Hear and believe the Gospel MK 1:15 and saying, “ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” MK 16:15 And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. MK 16:16 “ He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned

Christ died on the cross for us HEB 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. HEB 9:12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

  10. Repent and turn from your sins LK 13:3 “I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Trust and have faith in Christ JN 5:39 “ You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; JN 5:40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

The Assurance of Eternal Life 1JN 5:9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. 1JN 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.

  12. 1JN 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1JN 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 1JN 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
