  1. Take a Bite of Eternal Life Genesis 2:15-17

  2. Gen 2:15-17And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. (16) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: (17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

  3. But not after Man Sinned • ...and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:Gen 3:22 • Adam sinned, and God did not will that he have eternal life at that point. • All are born OUTSIDE the Garden as a result.

  4. Notable Point Made • So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.Gene 3:24 • Pass those Cherubims, and obtain ETERNAL LIFE! • Protect Way of Tree of Life.

Fruit Quite Spiritual • Fruit of Life and of Knowledge of good and evil were not the usual fruit! • And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.     Gen 2:25 • But when they ate the forbidden fruit… • ...the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.Gen 3:7.

  7. If forbidden fruit did that… • What might the Fruit of Life have caused them to experience? • They never ate so we cannot know form their story. • But the rest of the Bible deals with the issue! • God still wants man to eat fruit of Life!

  8. Cherubim • Eze 10:1Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. • Eze 10:14And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

  9. Chapter 1 • Eze 1:10As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

MAN • LION – King of beasts. • OX – King of cattle • EAGLE – King of fowl • Gen 2:20And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. • Gen 2:23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

  11. To Noah: • Gen 9:9-10And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; (10) And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you;…

  12. An ARK carries them from place of death into a New World! • Outside Garden would be Adam’s grave. • No Graves in Garden. • So, if you enter the Garden, you leave place of death, also. • God has made a way past the Cherubims! • Glimmers of hope were given in the Bible.

  13. And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made:Exo 26:31

  14. Facing the Veiled Most Holy Place would be like facing the same beings Adam saw blocking the Garden! • And thou shalt hang up the veil under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the veil the ark of the testimony: and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.Exo 26:33

  15. God was still thinking of the Garden! • Cherubim placed at EAST of the Garden. • Most Holy Place entrance was FACING EAST. • And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Heb 9:3

  17. CHERUBIM AGAIN! • Exo 25:18And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. • Exo 25:21And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

  18. Into the Most Holy Hints of the way Back In! • As Noah’s ARK carried beasts, fowl, cattle and man… • The ARK of the Covenant carried Cherubim past veil into the Holist place. • Just like passing the Garden entrance into the Garden! • Where God’s presence was!

  19. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:Heb 9:7 • The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:  Heb 9:8 • So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.Gene 3:24

  20. Holiest represents the Garden • This shows that God noted how the way into the Garden was STILL CLOSED. • High Priest had to wear “HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD” on his brow in order to enter. • And had to have BLOOD. • Heb 9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

But SWORD STILL THERE • Lev 10:1-2And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. (2) And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

  22. Swords Around TempleWhen King Crowned • 2Ki 11:11And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple. • Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

  23. WHY A VEIL? • By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Heb 10:20 • SIN IS IN THE FLESH…

  24. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.Rom 7:17-18 • For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  Rom 8:3-4

  25. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor 5:21 • Jesus became sin FOR US. • When they crucified His body, they killed the flesh that took my sins. • And when he died…. • And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.  And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.Mark 15:37-38

  26. The barrier was removed!  • Since the Cherubims were sewn into the rent veil, and that barrier represented the barrier that kept Adam from the Tree of life, we see a wonderful picture of the barrier of the Garden being removed! • Exo 38:13 And for the east side eastward fifty cubits. • Exo 38:18 And the hanging for the gate of the court …

  27. Jesus Is High Priest • Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.Heb 4:14 • But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;Heb 9:11 • Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.Heb 9:12

  28. When Jesus Passed the Veil • Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.John 20:17 • And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. Lev 16:17

  29. BEHIND THE SCENES • And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.Rev 4:2 • And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.  And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.  Rev 4:6

  30. Ezekiel Saw Them! • Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. Ezek 10:1 • And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.Ezek 10:14

  31. If Someone Could Only Get Past the Cherubims to the Fruit of Life! • Access to Throne Blocked by Cherubim. • Instead of Tree of Life, the Throne of God was in Heaven/Garden. • And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.Rev 5:1

  32. Who is Worthy? • And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to lose the seals thereof?Rev 5:2 • Past Cherubim was Fruit of Life in Branch of Tree of Life. • Past Cherubim is Book of Life in Hand of One on Throne!

  33. If Adam was worthy, he could have entered past the Cherubim and taken fruit from the Tree of Life! • A call in Revelation 5 goes forth for a WORTHY ONE TO TAKE THE BOOK! • And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.Rev 5:3 • As no one could enter the Garden!

  34. But... • And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. Rev 5:4 • No wonder John wept! • If no one could enter this True Garden, and take the book, like fruit of life, NOBODY COULD OBTAIN ETERNAL LIFE! • We’d be lost forever!

  35. WEEP NOT! • And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.  Rev 5:5

  36. WEEP NOT? • Can it be true? • Someone can go in for us? • John whirled around to look for the Lion! • And I beheld, and, lo,in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts,…Rev 5:6 • “BETWEEN THE THRONE AND THE CHERUBIM!” • INSIDE, AND PAST THE BARRIER!

  37. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.Rev 5:6 • STOOD AS IT HAD BEEN SLAIN • RESURRECTED!

  38. He not only was High Priest who offered a lamb, but He offered Himself.  • The High Priest is also the Lamb!  The Lamb is the only man worthy in a world where nobody else was ever found worthy to enter the Garden! • “Is not Revelation the FUTURE?” • Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;  Reve 1:19

  39. SEVEN HORNS 7 = ALL HORNS = POWER • The Lamb was resurrected. • When Jesus Christ resurrected and spoke for forty days about the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:2), He said among those words: • And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.Matt 28:18

  40. SEVEN EYES 7 = ALL EYES = UNDERSTANDING • For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession.Hebr 4:12 -14

  41. NOTHING IS HIDDEN FROM HIM • Rev 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. • A MYSTERY! • COMPLETELY HIDDEN! • To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:Colossians 1:27-28

  42. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.Rev 5:7 • Just like taking the fruit of Life from the branch of the Tree of Life

  43. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Rev 5:8-10

  44. COME AND SEE! • The Cherubim once BLOCKED man from the Tree of Life, (the BOOK OF LIFE in Rev). • These BLOCKERS now do this… • And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.Rev 6:1 • And I saw...       Rev 6:2

  45. AN OPENED BOOK WHO IS THIS? • And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:Rev 10:1
