  4. Check in with us at the Circulation Desk! • Show your hall pass, photo id, and schedule • Check out, return, reserve, or renew a book • Ask us questions! • What book should I read? • How can I find information for my research project or assignment? • How do I prepare a bibliography?

  5. What can I do in the library? • Read a magazine (located in front of the Reference section) • Read a good book (paperback collection is right next to the entrance) • Get a head start on your homework • Indulge your curiosity; research it!

  6. The Reference Section • Located under the windows and behind the stacks • Hundreds of helpful titles!

  7. How can the Reference Section help me? • Get started on your research here! • You’ll find • dictionaries • encyclopedias • almanacs • atlases …covering topics in all subject areas! …science, technology, art, literature, biography, history, careers, religion… You name it; we have it!

  8. The Circulating Collection • Book stacks are located to the right of the entrance; you can’t miss them! • Books live according to Dewey number; shelves are clearly marked for your convenience • Feel free to browse, or locate materials by using our OPAC on any computer • Having trouble finding what you need? Ask for help!

  9. What can I do on the computers? • Access our catalog (OPAC) to locate books and other resources owned by the library • Jump off from our eChalk web site… http://uhs.uniondaleschools.org(click on the link for library) …to search databases and online encyclopedias, check out helpful links, read about our new acquisitions, view class assignment resources, meander through sites of the day, peruse college and career options, visit virtual libraries, listen to a CD (coming soon!) and much more!

  10. The Photocopy Machine • Located directly across from the Circulation desk • Only $.10 a page!

  11. Use your best etiquette! • Use materials with care! • Return them to the Circulation desk • Return or renew books on time • Speak respectfully to the staff as well as to your friends • Allow others the right to concentrate by speaking quietly • Be thoughtful when printing! • Eat and drink in the cafeteria NOT in the library! • Don’t litter!
