  9. What Makes Up A Unit

  10. SEPE Unit: Learning Outcomes • Students are assessed on their ability to meet certain criteria: • These are known as LEARNING OUTCOMES. A set of 4/5 Los will make up a unit • The criteria by which these are judged are called ASSESSMENT CRITERIA • Students must be able to demonstrate the assessment criteria to pass the learning outcomes, how they do this is up to the DELIVERY TEAM • The criteria for SEPE …..

  11. Delivering SEPE Through The Arts • A wide range of arts programmes such as drama, music, dance, story telling, filming, 2D and 3D work are appropriate for the delivery • A well-run arts project would be appropriate both for learners who are interested in the arts and for those who may not know much about the arts, and may be disaffected and de-motivated, but who may find the re-engagement they need through participation in the project. • It is anticipated that the course will a total of 36 GUIDED LEARNING HOURS

  12. Music As A Guide…

  13. Who Are My Learners? • We will be delivering to adult offenders in prisons across Europe. • Our learners will have a variety of skills; little or no prior learning; and may not be able to read or write. • Previous experience in the Arts will not be a barrier to achieving this qualification. • We will be using a variety of Arts to achieve the LEARNING OBJECTIVES of the SEPE certificate. • It is our job to excite and motivate the learners who may have had serious problems with formal education.

  14. What Am I Delivering? • How the learners achieve the learning objectives is up to you. • You might consider; group work, individual work, paired work, and using a variety of activities to complete the project and assessment criteria. • All work must be pre-planned and written in an ASSIGNMENT BRIEF that outlines what you intend to do against the assessment criteria. • You will be delivering to the learners in your preferred art form, it’s a great opportunity to share your detailed knowledge of your profession. • Much of this will be covered in the formal training days later in the project.

  15. Superact’s Role • Superact has recently become an Edexcel ACCREDITED CENTRE for the delivery of Workskills BTECs • Superact will become the national training centre for the delivery and training of all artists undertaking the delivery of SEPE. • We will support and verify all of the work submitted by your learners to make sure that it meets Edexcel standards.

  19. Delivery Team Time Allocation • All tutors will be given 1 hour at the end of each session to complete basic administrative tasks relating to project evidence and management of folders • Review the success of all workshops • In addition to this they are allocated one planning session of 7.5 hours before undertaking delivery of the course • There will be 14 hours ongoing administration time throughout the 12 week course. • Finally trainers and assessors are also allocated an additional 30 minutes per learner to complete the collation of project files and prepare for final verification. Eg. With 12 learner participants’ trainers will be allocated 6 hours to finalize and collate learner evidence.

  20. The Commitment • We are all engaging in the bureaucratic world of formalised education • This will involve commitment from everyone involved • You must be willing to jump through seemingly pointless hoops repeatedly to be a success • We all have to meet the standards set by Edexcel • Musicians and Artists will be teachers • Not just arts workshops • Using your other skills to engage learners in the world of work • Extra time will need to be taken up to fulfil the administrative tasks necessary • If deadlines etc... are missed, students will miss out on the qualification
