Launch Readiness Review for Team #5: Exploring Earth’s Magnetic Field and Tesla’s Energy Theory

This document outlines the Launch Readiness Review for Team #5's mission to measure Earth's magnetic field, voltage production, and image orientation. The mission aims to validate or challenge Tesla's Free Energy Theory, assess the intensity of the Earth's magnetic field, and test a magnetometer as an attitude determination system. Key experiments include testing a low current sensor, magnetometer, and camera synchronization for capturing data. The review addresses potential issues, such as temperature regulation and Arduino operation duration, to ensure mission success.

  1. Fall 2011 Rev A 11-01-11 TBA (Team #5)Launch Readiness Review Quinn Kostelecky, Vincent Staverosky, Gloria Chen, Roshan Misra, Jacqueline Godina, Raymond Auyeung

  2. Mission Overview • Measure the Earth’s magnetic field intensity • Measure the voltage produced • Determine the orientation of pictures

  3. Mission Overview • Purpose of Mission: • Prove or disprove Tesla’s Free Energy Theory • Discover intensity of Earth’s magnetic field • Test the viability of a magnetometer as an attitude determination system

  4. Design Overview • Low Current Sensor and Magnetometer • Arduino UNO and MicroSD Shield • Camera, Hobo, Heater, Batteries

  5. Experiment Testing-Current/Solenoid System Solenoid/Current Sensor Test Readings Current Sensor Calibration Current Sensor Calibration

  6. Experiment Testing-Magnetometer

  7. Experiment Testing-Camera/Magnetometer • Sync Magnetometer readings with camera pictures • First picture taken on the eighth reading • Picture taken every two readings after eighth

  8. Structure Testing Drop Test Staircase Test Whip Test After Drop and Staircase Test

  9. Cooler Testing • Heater malfunctioned during cooler test • Need to turn on heater in advance of cooler test to maintain temperature • Another cooler test to be run today

  10. HOBO Testing HOBO placed in freezer Internal Temperature Relative Humidity HOBO HOBO placed outside spout of hot kettle HOBO taken out of freezer

  11. Expected Results • Low current generated by solenoid during flight • Magnetic field intensity decreases as altitude increases • Accurately predict orientation of satellite

  12. Biggest Worries • Keeping satellite at proper operating temperatures • Arduino doesn’t run for flight duration
