What are Smart Networks ? • A smart network is defined as an energy network where there is a pervasive information and communications technology overlay that effectively enables integrated management of the creation, transport, storage and consumption of energy. Specific emphasis is placed on the application of digital technology to provide accessible, flexible, reliable and economically sustainable electrical energy to users.
