  2. The first mine was built in Zabrze in 1791 and after the II World War the city was named the “capital of the Polish mining”. It was nota coincidencethat the first Coal Mining Museum was built in Zabrze in 1981 – firstly as the one and only national museum of this kind in Poland. Since April 2nd 2013 the CoalMiningMuseum in Zabrze is a single entity, established on the basis of merging the Historic Guido Coal Mine with the former Coal Mining Museum, Queen Louise Mine and MainKeyHereditaryAditexcavations.

Total cost of the project: 71 200 965,25 PLN • EU contribution: 41 410 000,00 PLN • SilesianVoivodeshipcontribution: 2 000 000,00 PLN • Zabrze Municipalitycontribution: 27 590 965,25 PLN • Voivodeship Fund of Environment Protection and Water Management contribution: 200 000,00 PLN • Project co-financed by European Union (Innovative Economy Operational Program). • Zabrze Municipality is the project beneficiary, Coal Mining Museum is the project implementer, responsible for its proper realization.
