Our Organization ITHAKA is a not-for-profit organization that helps the academic community use digital technologies to preserve the scholarly record and to advance research and teaching in sustainable ways. We pursue this mission by providing innovative services that aid in the adoption of these technologies and that create lasting impact.
Our Services • IthakaS+Ris a research and consulting service that focuses on the transformation of scholarship and teaching in an online environment, with the goal of identifying the critical issues facing our community and acting as a catalyst for change. • JSTORis a research platform that enables discovery, access, and preservation of scholarly content. • Portico is a digital preservation service for e-journals, e-books, and other scholarly e-content.
JSTOR Content Overview • Archive Collections: Multidisciplinary and discipline-specific collections that provide access to the complete back runs of more than 1,000 academic journals • Current Collections: Current journal issues are available as collections or as single titles. • Primary Source Collections: Through collaborations with libraries, museums, and scholarly associations, we are able to provide primary source collections that complement the journal collections. These include monographs, pamphlets, letters, type specimens, government documents, drawings and paintings, and more • Books: More than 17,000 scholarly monographs from leading university presses and other scholarly publishers
Arts & Sciences I • 119 Titles • Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, and other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences • Established in 1997 as JSTOR’s first collection • Includes many of the core research and society publications in the represented disciplines • Also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics • Current issues are available for 14 of these titles
Arts & Sciences II • 127 Titles • Economics, History, Archaeology, Classics, and Areas Studies (Latin American, Middle Eastern, Slavic, African, and Asian) • Adds depth to many disciplines introduced in Arts & Sciences I, in addition to offering core titles in new disciplines • Current issues are available for 12 of these titles
Arts & Sciences III • 151 Titles • Language, Literature, Music, Film Studies, Folklore, Performing Arts, Religion, Art & Art History, and Architecture & Architectural History • Draws on titles across the language, performing, and visual arts • Features the largest cluster of titles on Eastern and Western religions in the archive • Includes all titles from the Music Collection • Current issues are available for 18 of these titles
Arts & Sciences IV • 112 Titles • Law, Psychology, Public Policy& Administration, Business, and Education • Titles represent more than 150 years of scholarly publishing • Cluster of note-worthy student run law reviews, featuring more than a century of top legal scholarship that is accessible for research across other fields of study • Current issues are available for 12 of these titles
