  2. NMED 2030 Today’s Class… “Tip of The Day” Critical Review Assigned Critiques

  3. NMED 2030 Tip of the Day… Don’t wait until the night of April 13th. Leave yourself time to test, test and re-test your DVD output You must hand in your DVD output; production schedule and critical review on April 14th – this is the last day of classes. Test your DVD output on at least 3 (three) playback devices that are NOT your own computer (i.e. your home DVD player, one or two U of L computers in different class locations, or another DVD player) If your DVD does not work and I cannot watch your assignment, I will send you only one email notice. You will begin to lose 5% per day for lateness If you are unable to submit a working DVD output before final grades are submitted you will receive a 0 (zero) for this final assignment.

  4. NMED 2030 Critical Review Each student must chose to write a critical review of the rough cut/work-in-progress work of one fellow classmate. If a student asks to review your work, each student is expected to accommodate that request. Some students may not receive any requests, others may receive multiple. The critical review must be at least 500 type-written words. Critical reviews will not be accepted via email Documents must include your name, the artist’s name and the title of their piece.

  5. NMED 2030 Critical Review Each critical review must address one strength and one weakness of the work. “Strength” does not mean trumpeting flawlessness of someone’s work. It refers to compositional intention that makes the work successful. “Weakness” does not mean tearing a work to pieces. It refers to compositional intention or lack thereof that undermines the piece. Use scene analysis methodology I.e.: A broad stroke shot-by-shot analysis to speak about lighting as a strength I.e.: A broad stroke shot-by-shot analysis to speak to acting as a weakness

  6. NMED 2030 Critical Review Critical Reviews are due on April 14th in class. This is at the same time as the DVD of your work and your production schedule. REMEMBER: Documents will not be accepted via email. Hard copies only. This critical review is worth 10% of your final grade. Grammar, spelling and clarity of composition will be evaluated Each critical review must demonstrate: a strong grasp of the critique process a strong grasp of how to conduct a scene analysis (review your first scene analysis assignment to see what you did correctly and what you need to improve upon.)
