Findings from year 1 assessment2009/2010 • County-wide we found that CTE programs which had direct support in the areas of curriculum development, professional development, financial resources, personnel support, etc. scored higher in more elements than those CTE programs that did not have direct support. • County-wide 44% of CTE programs assessed had Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) or leadership skills embedded in the curriculum. Both are major components of the Student Support and Student Leadership Element.

Findings from year 1 assessment2009/2010 • County-wide 63% of the CTE programs assessed had in-depth partnerships with business/industry and other educational institutions. • County-wide 56% of the CTE programs assessed used a formal process, including CST scores, Perkins data, and comprehensive assessments, to evaluate and continuously improve CTE programs.

Findings from year 1 assessment2009/2010 • County-wide 60% of the CTE programs assessed had opportunities available for students to participate in work-based learning activities, internships and other career exploration activities • County-wide 89% of the CTE programs included career activities within their curriculum and lesson plans • County-wide there is a need to validate all CBED numbers assigned to CTE programs

  7. Professional Development • Provided professional development for high school and middle school CTE teachers county-wide • CTE Online • CTSO (Career Technical Student Organizations) • Embedding Leadership Skills in the Classroom

  8. County-wide Data Collection • Worked with ASAP to revamp our data collection system to match our needs • Collected enrollment forms on ALLstudents in CTE classes • Teachers wereno longer required to take attendance

Why didwe collect this Data? • Provided support for all CTE teachers who needed help connecting to business partners, bringing in guest speakers, and job shadow opportunities etc. • Provided Certificate of Completion for all CTE students completing a course or pathway • Provided support starting new CTSOs • Data readily available for grants, CPM, School Boards, WASC reports etc.
