If your team is assigned to argue “AGAINST” something, you are trying to prove the statement or question wrong. • If your team is assigned to argue “FOR” something, you are arguing in favor of the question or statement. You are taking the role of someone who agrees and is trying to get everyone else to agree too. • “REBUTTAL” means “comeback”, or the argument that is used to counter the other team’s statements. She will be looking for: • Clear, focused arguments. • Relevant arguments. • Arguments that effectively address the rebuttal. • Supporting evidence from the text. • Each team can receive a maximum of 6pts.
