History • Russia was once a nation ruled by Tsars, or Kings. • After the Bolshevik Revolution, Russia became the largest part of the Soviet Union (USSR). • The Soviet Union was a socialist state. • The USSR was a world superpower. • In 1991 the USSR fell. • 15 countries were born from the USSR. • Russia was born!

  4. Religion • Russia has many different Religions. • Russian Orthodox Christianity is the most common. • Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism are also • found in Russia. • Around 30-45% of Russians are Atheist.

  5. Transportation • Few Russians have cars, and those who do…don’t use them! • Main methods of transportation include: • Buses • Taxi Cabs • Planes • Trains • Metro • Walking

  6. Fun Facts Dosvidanya!! • All of the “stacking dolls” (Matrozhka) are hand painted! • There are officially 7 public holidays in Russia. • The biggest holiday is New Years. • The 2nd most popular holiday is Victory Day.
