  3. Purpose & Messages 1. To increase awareness of computer and Internet resources available at local libraries (including partner resources) 2. To position library Internet access as vital to residents and communities 3. To re-establish the important role libraries play within a community * Social Marketing, not “product-specific” Refer to the comprehensive outreach plan for more information.

Bookmarks General Population Elementary Version only • Strategy: Distribute inside and outside of your library. • Provide to your “friends” for distribution • Pass out at events and presentations • Bookmarks have been sent directly to your local elementary and high schools, as well as offices of public assistance, workforce (job service) offices, and regional self-help law centers.

  7. Table Toppers Provided to some libraries • Strategy: Distribute outside of library. Customize back to advertise your library or workshops. • Senior Centers • Coffee Shops • Restaurants • Schools • Table Toppers have been sent directly to AARP, offices of public assistance, workforce (job service) offices, regional self-help law centers, and the state law library.

Palm Cards Strategy: Distribute outside of library • Pass out at events and presentations • Schools, senior centers, restaurants, motels Palm cards have been sent directly to AARP, offices of public assistance, workforce (job service) offices, regional self-help law centers, and the state law library.

  9. Banners Customize your banner to promote upcoming workshops or events Retractable stands: Place the stands outside of the library main entrance and take them along with you to events

  10. Digital Banners & Thumb Drives Digital Banner: Add to your website or Facebook page as a quick link to www.MTlibrarynext.org Thumb Drives: Pre-loaded with popular Internet hyperlinks. Pass out to patrons attending workshops. A handful have been provided to each self-help law office, as well as the law library.

  11. Website Test Site Audience: Montanans who see TV and hear radio ads, primarily surfed while at home and on mobile devices Goals: Steer them to local libraries, get the mass message out, create a “buzz”

  12. Open Houses & Events • Checklist on BTOP site • Can customize newspaper ad to promote events & workshops • MSL will promote amongst partners but needs advance notice

Presentations Strategy: Promote library services to local chambers of commerce, senior centers, local teachers, etc. • PowerPoint Template available on BTOP website • Highlight local technology workshops • Promote events • Raise awareness of new equipment, broadband speeds, and statewide services (such as HomeworkMT)
