Internship Year • A full academic year, post-BA, of study and experience in a selected school • During 2009-2010 interns were placed in 76 different school districts within 16 Michigan counties – and the city of Chicago • After successful completion of the Internship and fulfillment of all State of Michigan requirements, certification will be recommended

Application Process for Teacher Education Students apply fall semester of their sophomore year Online Application • Available at www.educ.msu.edu during the month of September GPA Requirement • Minimum overall 2.75 at the end of semester of application Basic Skills Test • www.mttc.nesinc.com Essay • Proctored 1-hour essay in testing office on campus. • Scheduling will be part of online application. • $20 scoring fee paid on application. Experience • Special Education students must document 42 hours of work with special needs kids • No documentation required for Elementary or Secondary but experience is helpful for essay Conviction Disclosure Form – State of Michigan requirement

Urban Educators Cohort • UECP • Selected courses cover topics in diversity, poverty and social justice • Mentored by urban teachers and administrators • Tutor or work with youth in urban school districts • Internship in urban setting • Summer placement experience in London US11 • Participate in seminars, research and special sections of courses • Guaranteed admission to the Teacher Education program as a junior if standards are met

Global Educators Cohort • GECP • Selected courses cover topics in international and global themes • Early experiences in multicultural and international settings • Required study abroad/global education experience • Prepares teachers to infuse global content; bringing the world to students • Summer placement experience in China US10 & US11 • Prepare teachers to teach in regular classrooms, multicultural classrooms, international classrooms and abroad • Guaranteed admission to the Teacher Education program as a junior if standards are met
