  3. The Plentiful West • Barley, oats, hay, and potatoes • Alaska • Harsh climate • Most crops grown in greenhouses • Greenhouses- enclosed structure that allows light to enter and keeps heat and moisture from escaping • Sugarcane and pineapples • Hawaii • Also macadamia nuts and coffee
