UV BALLAST RETROFITS • UV Ballast have changed through the years from vendor • Prior to the fall of 2008 4 wire ballast • 2008 to the fall of 2012 3 wire ballast • 2012 to present 4 wire ballast • When replacing a UV Ballast for cabinets with a 3 wire ballast a decon will need to be performed since the current ballast is a 4 wire configuration.

  10. ELECTRONICALLYCOMMUTATED MOTOR • ECM 5.0 Genteq Motor • 1450 RPM • 10” Forward Curved Fan (was 9”) • PWM (DC signal) varies the motor speed • Motor Control, Monitors RPM and torque which delivers constant air volume as HEPA Filters load • NU-437, NU-440, NU-475, NU-477, NU-480, NU-481, NU-629, NU-677 (A2 units) • NU-427 (B1), NU-430, NU-435 (B2) - DC ECM Motor is standard • Optional on NU-425 (A2)

  11. STB0187 DC ECM MOTOR UPGRADE • Converting a NU-425 Series 20 and newer from an AC to a DC Motor 115V (Standard) • All other BSC Models Series 20 and Newer are Specs

  12. DC ECM CONTROL SYSTEM A2 • NU-425 – ES (Energy Saver) - Optional & Field Upgradeable • NU-475, NU-629 – ES (Energy Saver) – Standard

  19. NU-437 (SERIES 60^) / 477/677)AIRFLOW CALIBRATION The DC-ECM System works like this: AC voltage is applied directly to the DC motor’s control module The motor control module (Microprocessor) converts the AC to DC for Internal electronics and to power the motor In addition, there is a second electrical cable that goes from the Main Control Board’s speed controller DC output to the motor. This generates a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) 2.5 – 8 VDC control signal and returns an RPM feedback signal from the motor to the speed controller CKT

  20. GAF AC/DC MOTOR / IMPELLERAIRFLOW ADJUSTMENTS • AC motor – Airflow adjusted via the POT located under heat-sink • DC ECM motors - Airflow adjusted via sequence of control panel keys actions. Cal mode = press & hold Alarm Silence key, hit FL light on, light off key; Increase Airflow = UV key and decrease = FL light key • DC EC impellers utilize another set of potentiometers, on GAF board, Std. all Isolators (S-10^)

  24. NU-437/477/677FLOWGARD CALIBRATION Once the airflow calibration is complete – calibrate the FlowGard Airflow Monitor • Press and hold ( ) and ( ) arrow keys simultaneously for 3 seconds until the center green LED blinks. • Allow the Unit to run for a minimum of 2 minutes. • Press RESET Key to enter the nominal airflow value; the Green LED will stop blinking and display normally. This sets the high/low alarm limits +/-0.13 w.g. from nominal. Reference the operation manual for the NU-437/477 for more in-depth information and calibration procedures. If you require help, or have questions, contact NuAire’s Technical Support Depart.
