Comenius Times March 2014 1st Edition By Wheatfield Primary School Inside WHEATFIELD WELCOMES COMENIUS PARTNERS On Tuesday 21st January 2014, the whole school gathered outside the main entrance to welcome the students and teachers from: Slovenia, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany and Turkey. One of the international partners said, “we were all excited to be here and meet everyone.” Following this we had Comenius assembly and all the foreign teachers said hello in their language. Page 1 Wheatfield welcomes Comenius Partners. Traditional Food and Games! Bradley Stoke Journal. Page 2 A Wheatfield Student spills the beans. A message from the Wheatfield Host children. Page 3 Open top buses, dancing and the bike it crew! Page 4 Comenius friends FOOD AND BINGO! and everyone wanted another game! Eww fish! Wheaty. We had loads of fun, and when the fish and chips arrived, there were crates of it! Everyone had fun playing bingo, On the Wednesday we had fish and chips and a game of bingo. Teachers were there, the German students were there and Just 1 number!!! A SPLASH IN THE LOCAL MEDIA! Chair of our Council said “This is an excellent opportunity which provides both students and teachers a unique chance to share knowledge with schools from a range of European countries.” Whilst our visitors were here we were lucky enough to feature in the local ‘Bradley Stoke Journal. for Tuesday lunch time arts and craft club w this coupon

  2. 2 Comenius Times March 2013 A DAY IN THE EYES OF THE STUDENT. and told Miss Gregory that we went to SpecSavers and that we got a free balloon. At lunch we sat with our host families and ate pizza. Then we finished off painting the tyres and after played a game of football; we won! Before everyone went home we had a leaving assembly to say goodbye to all the Comenius visitors. After school all the host families, teachers and visitors had afternoon tea. While all the teachers were saying goodbye we went bowling and had KFC. GOODNIGHT! My favourite day was on Thursday because we went to Thornbury and had a hot chocolate. Next we went to the park and we all played tag together. Then we went shopping to find things with Union Jacks on them. After that we went into the library and looked at some books. Then we walked past SpecSavers and we each got a glasses case with a balloon in it. After that we went back on the coach to go back to school. On the coach we had a balloon party. Finlay hit Mrs Roberts on the head. Maddi and Lottie hit each other on the head we also made up silly sentences; it was really fun. When we got back to school we painted some tyres and put some flowers in them. Then we all went back upstairs and Maddi, Lottie and Abbi went A MESSAGE FROM THE WHEATY HOST-IES! Mark said he wishes them all a good future and hopes to see them soon. During their stay a few Wheatfield students were kind enough to host the foreign students. Finlay said he missed them and hoped to see them in a few years. Farewell! See you again one day!

  3. 3 Comenius Times March 2013 BUSES, BIKES and FEET! The school’s active ambassadors introduced themselves and explained their role in encouraging the whole school community to get involved in reducing our impact on the environment by travelling to school in environment-ally friendly ways! The typical British weather didn’t stop us visiting the city sites on an open top tour of the city of Bristol. We loved seeing our city from a bird’s perspective and were proud to find out that Blankets were invented in our home town!!! Mrs Brown, Mrs Midlane, Miss Gregory and Mrs Roberts stayed on top of the bus for the whole journey – they got cold and a bit wet but had a lot of fun! Mark and Fin stuck it out for a very long time too! favourite dance to each other. Miss Dursley enjoyed dancing too with a little encourage-ment from one of the Year 3 children! It was great fun and the live music and dance tuition was entertain-ing and fun. Everyone loved learning traditional English and Scottish country dances. Year 3, 5 and 6 joined with teachers, international students and Comenius partner teachers to perform their THIS VOUCHER ENTITLES YOU TO RETURN TO VISIT YOUR FRIENDS AT WHEATFIELD SCHOOL WHENEVER YOU LIKE!

  4. 4 Comenius Times March 2013 WE ALL STAND TOGETHER! Inside Everyone has become good friends already and when the work is done and the tasks are agreed, agendas met and reports written, it is time to reflect on the people we meet and lifelong friendships that are made along the way. The teachers involved in the project have got to know each other really well during the first 2 mobilities to Poland and England. They seem to be really enjoying the project so far and hope that their schools and students have a good time too! Wheaty flies to Slovenia in search of a friend Mrs Brown, Mrs Roberts and Miss Gregory learn a new language Birthday celebrations Slovenian style Stop at Aldi for carrier bag free shopping!
