  2. Warm Up 1) Simplify the expression below. –18 + 32 – (–8) 2)

  3. Purpose and Outcome Purpose: To find the value of a variable in a multiplication or division equation by using the Multiplication and Division Properties of Equality. Outcome: SWBAT solve these equations.

  4. Launch: Read pages 298-300. What do you think we are going to learn today? How is it different or similar to what we have already learned?

  5. Launch Can you solve these?

  6. Division Property of Equality Division Property of Equality states that if you divide the same number to both sides of an equation the two sides remain equal.

  7. Multiplication Property of Equality The Multiplication Property states that if you multiply the same number to both sides of an equation the two sides will remain equal.

  8. Explore Page 303 # 2-18 even

  9. Who’s the Man? The other day Joshua, Arvin, Khong, and Tony were bragging about how much money they have. They all think they are the “Man”. Joshua told the guys, “Hey, if you take my money and add 658 to it, then you will get $2,674.” Arvin said, “If you subtract 459 from my money you will get $1,558.” Khong said, “If you take 5 times my money you’ll get $10,075.” Tony finished by saying, “Well if you take my money and divide it into 4 groups, you will get $504.”

  10. Who’s the Man? The other day Cristian, Kidus, Victor, and Diego were bragging about how much money they have. They all think they are the “Man”.
