  2. OK, I get it... • With a colleague or two talk about some of the benefits that might occur for kids, in class, and for teachers... • Pick the 2 most important benefits in each case...

  3. Benefits-for kids • Don’t miss lessons if I’m away • Learn when I’m ready • Learn at my own speed- Rewind if you don’t get it; • Pause and figure out vocabulary • Learning styles- see, hear and read the information • Pause and figure out vocabulary • Other language versions

  4. The Kids say..

  5. In Class: • More class time! -it reduces the amount of lecture.... • Time to work together with peers - on common problems or at a common pace • Less instruction and more ‘one on one’: ‘a guide at the side’ • Time to meet every student • More pre-loading= less differentiation stress • Re-use lessons and build upon them based upon experience

  6. Sharing- give & get • Professional communities-sharing and improving our lessons together - one curriculum - one learning community in BC per topic • Share resources- not easy to ‘watch others’ but we can share flip lessons • building guides to the curriculum for early career teachers • Share lessons and activities and strategies etc. and build upon them

  7. An idea, a camera and white boards

  8. Don’t over-do it start with one subject/topic • KISS- Focus on content- • Try vocabulary and background knowledge • Start with ‘for those who were away’ • Keep it short <8 min ideal <5 min. (split it up) • Try to meet visual learner’s needs

  9. Wait A Minute!!! • What about...... • and • and ........... • What are the problems you see? • Talk with your neighbours and decide what would be the 3 biggest barriers to using flip lessons... and the place that in spite of this you think it might be worth trying...
