  2. School Policy 2.6 Violence may include, but is not limited to a verbal or nonverbal threat or action that causes physical or emotional harm to another person. 2.3.1 Purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working or academic environment.

  3. State Law Minnesota state law (Minn. Stat. § 363.01, subd. 41a.) makes it illegal to discriminate against someone based on their sexual orientation.

  5. Inappropriate Language “That’s so gay!” “Don’t be a fag!” Gay ≠ dumb Using fag in this manner is demeaning

  6. Physical Harassment Pushing Shoving Punching Kicking All other forms of physical abuse There is no excuse for physically abusing anyone.

  7. Verbal Harassment You’re gay. You’re nothing. I’ll (threat) if you tell. Gays go to hell. Nobody likes you. There is no excuse for verbally abusing anyone.

  8. Classroom Discussion In your classes, split into small groups and discuss:1. Where is GLBTQ harassment most prevalent in our school? 2. What does it look like? 3. What can we do to stop and prevent it?
